Martha Shenton graduated with an AB from Wellesley College, an MS from Tufts University, a PHD from Harvard University, in psychology, and a post-doctoral fellowship from Harvard Medical School (HMS). Currently, she is a professor in both psychiatry and radiology at HMS. Her first publication about grief, entitled “Untangling Grief: Living Beyond a Great Loss,” appears in the Harvard Health Blog. “George Knew” is a poem written six months after George’s death. She lives in the Boston area.
