To envision and create a sustainable future, the infrastructure we build to care for people that care for people with serious illness must be centered in what people need.

When a life is being completed, who we are matters more than what we have.

A black dog is family.

A small home is freedom.

A star filled sky makes more sense than a university hospital.

Moment by moment, square by square, the patterns we weave are not easily seen while squinting at the tip of the needle.

A last step back to see reveals the imperfect details and the perfect whole.

Showing up, in addition to state-of-the-art medicine,

is what’s called for in response to the lived experience of when your hat’s too big and your shoes are too small.

There comes a moment when there is nothing around the corner.

Hope appears when the waiting is over.
